Default fingerprints

I had my fingerprints taken last November....my wife and I already had
our interview (3 months ago) and I am still waiting for my card in the
mail. I called USCIS and they told me that they need my clearance from
the FBI to mail it. They also said there is nothing they can do and I
should wait even longer (it has been 6 months already!!!) ...I called
the FBI to see if there is a way I can check on the status of my
clearance and they didn't know where to transfer me to....why is it
taking so long? what do I do next? USCIS doesn't have any anwsers and
neither does the FBI....Can anyone help me out?

In a word - no.

It will take as long as it takes.

My son has been waiting over a year. We got our Congressman involved,
but all they can tell us is that his case is still pending. We have no
clue what might be going on (if anything) but, from reading this board I
get the impression that whilst this is not common, it does happen
occasionally.

If you search this group for "background check" you will find that the
average time for background checks is somewhere around 6 months. If it
takes more than a year it's time to raise hell. It has also been
speculated that the actual FBI check is done quickly (2 weeks) but that
CIS doesn't process the results for months. It might be a waste of time
to bother the FBI in that case.
