Default Fingerprint cards are available from your local police

Several different people have mentioned writing to the FBI for blank
fingerprint cards. I just wanted to mention that my partner and I just
got fingerprinted, and several different local police stations as well
as a commercial fingerprinting service all said they had the blank
cards; you don't necessarily need to get one from the FBI.

Of course, you should check first, and if you're outside the US you will
have to write to the FBI.

I hope this saves people some time.

Peace,
Dylan

Dylan, I don't know where in the US you live, but I tried Boston police
in Massachussets and in a police station in New Hampshire, and neither
police station had FBI fingerprint cards. I got the cards from the
Boston FBI office, they were very nice.

Attention everybody: the FBI fingerprint card looks just like the
regular fingerprint card your police station may have, but it is BLUE,
if you get fingerprinted on a regular card, FBI will send it back to
you, and you will have to do it all over again (happenned to me before).
Hope this saves people some time.

Yes it does! Thank you very much.

(The person who took our fingerprints was new on the job, and I guess he
wasn't familiar with the procedures for Candian immigration.)

Applicants only. I.E. People who want to apply for a job at the FBI and
that i picked up the right one.

The one I used was blue, and that one was sent by the FBI after I sent a
letter requesting fingerprint cards for Canadian immigration criminal
clearance.

I did my fingerprints at my local jail, since I worked there as an
administrative assistant before I left for Canada. The only cards they had
were for submission of a criminal record, so I had to request the correct
cards directly from the FBI. I don't remember what color the "wrong ones"
were.

Hi,

I dont know if the rules changed recently, but I got my fingerprints
done on a white card in Atlanta (county police station) in August 2003
and I didnt have any problems.

The county police station had many cards on the desk outside which
were rubber-stamped 'for pistol license'. I told the clerk that I
need the fingerprints for canadian immig. and he took a new card from
inside his office, which was the same card, except without the
rubber-stamp (for pistol license). The card was white(dull white) in
color and FBI accepted this card.

Yes, mine was also a dull white color. Sorry, I meant that the ink on it
was a lightish-blue shade.

Oh! In that case, the cards I got (from the Cambridge, MA police
department) were also this shade.

Peace,
Dylan

Now here goes another confusion. Recently end of december I received
blank cards from fbi. The card was white. Wont it do ?

Why this color nonsense on top of this ?

Has anyone received white color cards from FBI ?

I received white cards with blue grids (the lines/boxes where printed
in blue, but the card was white) from FBI. Not sure what the
significance of colors is. I got my fingerprints at the local jail,
send them to FBI and also received them back. I specifically mentioned
Canada immigration, so these are probably the cards what Buffalo
needs.

Getting the blank cards was a pain, the local jail had them, but they
said they were for internal use, meaning it is only for fellows who
are locked up. And there are no local agencies here in the yellow
pages… rural America.
