Default filing taxes as a Permanent resident

To maintain leagal PRS one of the conditions is - The continued filing of U.S.
tax returns with the IRS in a resident status.

But i have problem with it. I've applied for AOS in September, it's still
Pending. I didn't apply for EAD, so i don't work.
The thing is that i've worked only 1 month in July 2006 in the USA. I had J1
visa, so i paid taxes as a exchange student. I don't have pay checks left, i
don't have W2, and that place is were far from where i live now. Do i need to
file tax return for that 1 month?
I hope to get my GC soon, so it might happen even before i would have to file
tax return. In that case, do i need to file that tax return for 1 month as a
PR?

Is your green card application marriage-based?

No, you don't since your income would be below the amount required
for filing.

The only thing you will be losing is the federal and state taxes which
were withheld, if any.

Your husband can add you to his tax return in 2007 and file as
joint/married.

If i do need to file tax return for that month, could i file them jointly
with my husband?

Yes, in fact in my opinion, your combined income *should* be
filed jointly.

You will get your W-2 for your 2006 employment by Feb 1 2007. You must
file your 2006 income tax return(s) by April 15 2007.

Your income is for all of 2006. If you worked just one month, that
income may be low enough to exempt you from filing BUT you may come out
better by filing jointly with your spouse.

Just didn't see anyone clarify the above.
