Default Fiance Visa question

Hi there,

Could anyone shed light on this question for me please. When you apply
for the fiance visa and get the green light from Australia House to send
your passport in to get the visa stamped, does the visa start date go
from when you get the acknowledgement that you have the visa or when you
chose to send your passport in to get the visa stamped. As the fiance
visa only lasts for 9 months, I'm working on a tight timeframe and was
just finding out if I can control it abit more.

Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Ben

hi ben,

i just got my fiancé visa last thursday (14 october) and the grant
letter (which i got by email btw, not by normal mail) says that i have
to get married before 14 july 2005 - so its nine months from the date of
grant and not from the date that they recieve your passport.

good luck,

tanja

Exactly that. You're applying for permission to enter, marry and get
your spouse visa within 9 months, so the 9 months start from when they
grant it. No way of getting extra time I'm afraid :)

Thanks for the advice guys. Tanja, how long did it take your fiance visa
acknowledgement to come through, from the date you sent all the forms ?

Hi Ben,

Sorry, for rudely butting-in Tanja :)

My visa has just been granted (by email) and it took a whole working
week ... so, here's hoping for everyone else :) There are a few
people in the same position so you may want to keep your eye on this
thread too:

Hey there,
My acknowledgement took 21 days to arrive via my agent and not wanting
to put a downer on things but It took 3 months for my prospective
marriage to come through from AHC London - Check out my thread Dreams do
come true posted on 14th October

Thanks for all the info guys. Hope it all goes well in Oz. Hear's hoping
my visa goes through as quickly as some of yours.

Cheers

Ben
