Default Fiance birth certificate

I seem to remember looking at a sample I-129F petition and noticing on the
cover sheet that the fiance's birth certificate was included. Is this
necessary? I thought that only the petitioner's birth certificate was
necessary for proof of US citizenship. Please advise.

Thanks,
Ken

You'll find at this link what you do need to file the I-129F:

Your
fiancee should have a copy of her birth certficate ready to take to the
interview at the Consulate in her country...

Need the birth certicate for the fiance and if she has any children
that are coming with her. Probably checking to make sure such a
person does exist and possibly that she is of age to marriage. Would
make sense to me.

What he is asking is if he needs her birth certificate to file the I-
129F. HE DOESN'T. She needs it to take to the interview.

Ken,

The fiance (or fiancee) could be either the US citizen petitioner
or the alien beneficiary. It is not clear which you are talking about
(although a good guess can be made).

Only the US citizen petitioner's
birth certificate is required according to the I-129f instructions.
However, many posters have reported that they received an RFE requesting
the alien beneficiary's birth certificate. So, up to you whether you
want to include it with your petition or not.

Regards, JEff

That's interesting, Jeff. Anything is possible with the INS,
however....

My mistake...sorry.

I was looking at the package my then fiance sent in. He had included
a copy of mine and my son's - the short form where it doesn't show
your parents name and place of birth. I just had a look at the
instructions for the petition after I saw your post.

We had
the same experience. It's not required. However, going by what Jeff has
posted, looks like it wouldn't hurt to just pop it in there along with
the photos, emails and what not?? Go figure...

We did not do it, but I have subsequently heard what sounds like good
advice (and may explain the aforementioned RFEs)- to include the
beneficiaries birth certificate(s), even though they are not required,
so that if the IBIS security check gets a hit on a similar name they
can more quickly determine that it is NOT your beneficiary and thereby
reduce delay in processing.

Hi
My understanding was that you needed to show some document
that indicated the age of the person. A copy of the passport
and citizenship papers is what I'd used. At least for the I-129F.
You'll still need the birth certificate for the consulate,
later on. If it will be hard to get, best start working
on it right away. They will accept other evidence but
only from countries that don't issue BC's.
