Default A few things Im unsure of - please ;o)

Hi Everyone

Ok, I am a British Citizen, my fiance is American.

All of the fiance visa stuff has been approved in USA - and has been
passed to U.S Embassy in London, I have recieved info pack from them,
telling me what they now need - and am stuck on a couple of things - id
be really grateful for help please:

I have form DS156k - the DS156 supplement, On it - it asks for certain
documents to be attached, one of the things they ask for is my Sons
birth certificate (he is staying in UK with his mother) - well his
mother and I are not on speaking terms unfortunately and I have an
absolute zero chance of getting it from her - Also, I am not named on
the certificate as his Father as I was not invited to his Christening or
was not present at his birth registration - I think the father space is
left blank - any ideas what i should do here please?

The form also says that the documents must be attached - but in the info
pack it says do not send any documents - I must bring them with me to
the interview ??? not sure what to do there.

This form is also asking for evidence of our engagement - My fiance
expressed that she would like to wear my late mothers engagement ring -
I do not have a ring receipt - how do i prove we are engaged?

Thanks everyone - Im much obliged as usual

The only thing you need to return to the embassy now, is the checklist
that says you have all your documents ready. Bring all the forms and
attachments with you to the interview.

I don't even recall what we provided, but we didn't have a ring receipt
either. We probably just brought pictures, proof that I traveled to see
him, phone bills showing we communicate, that sort of thing. Pretty
much the same info that your fiancee sent with the I-129F which asked
for proof of engagement.

Best Wishes,
Rene

If you are not listed on the birth certificate, then what use would the
certificate be to indicate that you are his father?

My now-husband was able to get copies of his daughters' birth
certificates on his own simply by going to the local registry office and
requesting them. However, he was listed as their father, which entitled
him to obtain them for a small charge.

The fact that you can't produce a birth certificate listing you as the
father of a child staying in the UK with his mother will not, in my
opinion, hurt your chances of getting your visa. I would simply attend
the interview without the certificate and explain exactly what you have
explained to us here.

Hope this helps.

Where ever your son was born(Town/City/County) go or write to the local
office that deals with Births/Deaths etc and you can get a new one.Tell
them you lost the old one. They will charge you 10 pounds sterling.Make
sure you ask for the long form. You should get it fairly quick in the
UK,from the USA it took me about two weeks when i applied for my
youngest son,s birth certificate to get it .

But if it doesn't list him as the father, what would he need it for from
an immigration perspective?

But as his Son is not emmigrating then it is all irrelevant anyway.

I would just spend the tenner.

Not exactly true. My husband's daughters did not immigrate with him but
he was asked for the certificates at the London interview, and was also
asked for them at his AOS interview.

The difference between his situation and the OP's is that my husband is
listed as the father. If the OP is not even listed, what is the point
(from an immigration point of view) of bringing the certificate? It
means nothing, and shows no connection whatsoever that the interviewer
might be interested in.

As I said, if it's going to be a real pain for him to get to the
registry's office, I'd go without it and explain it to the officer the
way he explained it to us.

I wonder is he is providing monetary support and if it was court
documented?

At any rate I would obtain the birth certificate and submit it as
required. Also it SEEMS as if they are taking about a church B/C.
