Default family sponsorship

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know, regarding having family in oz, if I can
utilise this option based on the following scenario....

I will be the
primary applicant and hopefully my skills will be measured at 60
points... My wife has a sister in Brisbane who is prepared to sponsor
us, AND I have an assuror of support....

Can I include my spouses
sister in my application as I have heard the only way we can do this is
if my wife is the primary applicant

thanks in advance

Phil

Hiya

You put your wife as primary applicant..............and you use
your skills for the application

Thats the way we did it(my cousin
sponsored us.......hubbys skills went on app) and we are now the proud
owners of Aussie Visa's

Hi Heather.... congrats on the
visa by the way..... I was kinda hopin I could put the family link on
mine as I have a stonger case (seeing as she is my spouse etc) !!!

The
aussie immigration dept says "you may receive points if you or your
spouse has a relative......." but its kinda difficult to understand if I
can use it as part of my application....

Hi Phil....Thats what we are doing right now, busily filling in forms. I
am the primary applicant because my parents are in Perth and are
sponsoring and assuring for us. They can be the same person AFAIK!
Although my husband is the one that had his skills assessed. If you
read Booklet 6, its all explained in there.

Good Luck, we've discovered
since the points rise this is the only way we will have enough points to
qualify....Don't forget about the bond for the assurance though.
Although we have signed doc's, my parents are insisting that we pay the
bond ourselves!!

If your wife's sister is sponsoring you, then she *must* be the main
applicant.

You can still contribute the 'skill' part of the basic requirements and
points test - this is quite ok. Your wife doesn't need to meet skill
requirements if you do (even as the main applicant).

If applying skilled sponsored, a completed form 40 and 28 must both be
included at time of application. The actual bond lodgement comes at the
end of the process.

hello arlene

thanks for
your reply, by that was very quick wasnt it?

We are gonna apply in
Jan 2005 under my partners skills as a geologist, as I dont qualify as
nurse till 2006, so we figured that by the time it all comes through I
should be qualified.
I was just wondering if the sponsored applications
go through any quicker than normal applications, just cos if timescales
for finishing my training etc....

did yours go through quick cos you
were a nurse or cos you were sponsored?

So when and where are you
heading??

laura

thanks for the kind advise.... what visa class are you guys
applying under ? I'm asking because advise we received from a migration
agent stated that it is critical that my wifes skills MUST be positively
assessed in order for our application for skilled aussie linked
migration to succeed (then use my skills to get the extra 5 points)...
with her as the primary applicant cos she has the family link... but
from what you are saying, that doesn't appear to be the case!!! Now I
really am confused.

best regards

Phil
