Hello...

I was looking at the news about the new $20 bill and I just wonder... I went
to the SSA office to change my name (it was misspelled). I fill the form
show my birth certificate and driver's license and in about 30 mins I was on
my way out. I got the new card in 2 weeks.

If the government is worried that money can be counterfeited, what prevent
illegal aliens from using a fake bc and dl to get a SS# ?

It sound rather silly that they'll just be interested in a SS#. Really bad
people would probably do some pretty bad stuff. But I'm curious what's being
done about it. I didn't see the lady checking the computer for my info, it
looked as if she was just typing stuff in.

The lady just typed the stuff in because that what she is in charge of
doing. She's not the one who would generate the actual SSN for you nor the
one who do the checking.
