Hello,



I'm a prospective student for a US university in Texas. I plan to begin
next Fall 04. The deadline for the admission process is 1st of May 2004,
then I'll receive at home the I-20 to begin the visa process at the
embassy... I registered online for the GC lottery last month but I know
that F1 visa holder must not have immigrant intent. So my question is :
do I have to wait for any feedback from the GC lottery (means I'm lucky
)or can I begin the procress to get my F1 visa whether the result of
the GC L.? I don't know if they would appreciate a F1 holder wins at the
GC lottery!



I just don't want to make a mistake...

You do not have to wait for the GC lottery. Department of State issued a
number of memos that clearly state that a mere entry in the GC lottery, or
even winning the lottery, is not usually evidence of immigration intent.
They gave the fact that there is a high element of chance involved, as
well as the fact that many winners do not follow through.
