Default ERP Consultant applying as Accountant

Hey Guys,

Can anybody share what they think about my situation please?

I have a degree in accounting and my work history is as follow:
- Internal Auditor for 2 yrs 4 months,
- then I work as an Advertising Account Executive for 9 months
(it's in SOL),
- had a 3 months break,
- then I work for 8 month until now as an ERP Appplication Consultant
handling Financial & Accounting and Cost Accounting Module.

Do you think I can apply visa 136 as an accountant? If I can, should I
wait until I work for 12 months in my current company before I lodge my
Application?

Thank you.

With your nominated occupation as accountant you need to satisfy the
basic requirement in respect of Recent Work Experience. You need to
demonstrate that you've been in paid employment in a skilled occupation
(listed on the skilled occupation list) for at least 12 of the 18 months
immediately before you apply.

The ERP consultant should not present a problem but your dilemma is the
8 months. Get your accountant skills assessment done so long and by the
time that is through your wait period to fulfill the 12 months
requirement would have shrunk to 1 or 2 months.

Do you need the extra points on offer for Specific Work Experience? If
so I am sure that you know that the requirement there is 3 years in
skilled employment in the last 4 years immediately before you apply.

Thanks John for sharing your information.
I actually just had my positive Skill Assessment result today from the
NIA. Yipee.....!!

John, for the 12 / 18 months recent work experience, does that had to be
in the same occupation or not? or does it have to be closely related to
my nominated accountant job? If not then I actually have 12 /18 recent
work experience in any occupation in the SOL. (ERP Consultant 8 month +
3 months break + 9 months as Advertising Executive)

For Specific Work Experience I'm planning to get 5 points only which is
"3 / 4 years working in any occupation in the SOL" (Internal Auditing
and Advertising Executive / Advertising Specialist are also in the SOL).

Anyhow, accountant is in the MODL so I think I can get 15 points for
"MODL and no Job Offer", or are there more to it to claim for MODL than
just for it to be listed in the MODL?

Anybody have other opinions?

The RWE could be in any occupation on the SOL

This should be OK, (by the way, the 10 points category for SWE is only
available if the work experience was in your nomimated occupation or one
"closely related" to that)

No, this is it. All that is required is a positive skills assessment.

Many Thanks John,

so I guess I'll have to wait until early April to lodge in my
application.
Lets just hope DIMIA wont change to much regulation until then.
In the meantime I'll gather all the necessary document.
I Would probably need around two or three months for that anyway since I
find it hard to get out of the office these days.

Thanks John.

Anybody else have other opinion?
