Hey everyone,
Yup, got home and checked the passport and it definitely does not have
anything under annotation. I feel like such an idiot because I didn't
photocopy the LCA agreement, let that be a lesson for anyone else going
through the process, photocopy all documents that you are going to
handover to the Consulate.
Also, the visa type / class says R / E-3. Anyone know what R means ??
To the person that's worried about timeframes in getting the LCA, it
took me probably about 2 months. I had to get the contracting agency
agreeing on terms, then their lawyers sent me paperwork and I sent some
stuff back. They filled in the paperwork but it took a while getting
the information from the Labour department - approx 3 weeks. So hang in
there cause it does take time..

Don't worry about the "R" we've all got it, ignore it.
You may be lucky and not be asked at the POE for the LCA, it's a new
visa and they don't know what to ask for. In my case, having the
annotation, the passport was all that was needed.
As for the LCA, perhaps your employer kept a copy. He's supposed to have
it presented at the place of business.

I would have your lawyer call the office, I got mine faxed back within 6
days. However, there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the
delays, the other E3 case that my lawyer's firm was handling had not
recieved any notification for a month.
For those of you that want to make travel arrangements but have not yet
had your interview, I would suggest only doing so if you know that all
of your documentation is in order. I flew back to Australia from the US
simply to have the interview and thus had my return flight to the US
already scheduled 2 days after my interview (in Melbourne for a total of
6 days). I simply told the person interviewing me that I needed it back
within 24 hours and he told me to just come back the next day and pick
it up - it was very easy!

Looks like you are going to be a commuter regardless where you settle
your family. East Bay housing is less costly than South Bay and
Peninsula. But you don't want to settle in Concord if later your jobs
are around in San Jose.
Since you have 2 kids, find a good school district is more important.
Fremont Unified, Cupertino Union, and Palo Alto Unified are well known
good school districts.
Fremont is in between San Jose and Concord, it belongs to Alameda
County. The other two belong to Santa Clara County.
Here is the webpage for school performance in BayArea:

Here are the tool for search housing:

Good luck!
