Default DV2005 Winner Form Questions....

My father won the DV2005 from Cyprus. I have couple of questions
regarding the forms he has to fill:

1. Form DSP – 122: Question 3 – Current Mailing Address. I live in
the US and my parents live in Cyprus; they will go to the Interview in
US Consulate in Nicosia, Cyprus. In order to avoid lost mail is it OK
to give my mailing address here? The appointment date will be mailed
here.
2. Form DSP –122: Question 7 – Work Experience. My father has a
college degree but he retired about 8 years ago; he is 60 years old
now. Will this affect his application?
3. Form DS – 230 Part II: Question 29 – Name and Address of
Petitioner. Who is the petitioner? Is it my father? Both my sister and
I are permanent residents and we will be supporting my parents when
they come here till they find jobs. Are we the petitioners for them?

Thank you,

Unal.

1. Can't see why not.

2. Being retired is OK but he'll have to be able to show enough assets
to support him & your mother without working (unless he intends to
work again in which case they'll also consider his chances of getting
work). This will not necessarily be easy to do - hope he has pleanty
of assets. Obviosly you should act as a sponsor.

3. He is the petitioner.

good luck

They will send out a letter which he will need to take to the interview.
I guess you could copy the letter and send it to him.

Make sure he has enough money in his bank account to show he can support
himself for at least a few months without any income. For people of
working age this is usually about $8000, but it is up to the discretion
of the officer. But as he is retired the sum may be different. You can
always ask the consulate.

Yes

Don't forget they need to pass a thorough medical as well.

Thanks for the replies.

I have another question. My mother has to fill the Form DS – 230 Part
II: Question 29 – Name and Address of Petitioner. Who is the
petitioner in her case? Is it my father? Or is it my mother?

Thanks,
Unal.
