Default Does the transeurope express exist any more?

I'm asking because of the Kraftwerk album of the same name.
I couldn't find any links for the TEE in Yahoo.

Doesn't appear to be but there is a TEE locomotive at the DBB museum in
Nuernberg

No, what used to be TEE is now called "Intercity" or "Eurocity".
The concept is still the same.

Was there an equivalent of ICE? What was the speed of normal
long-distance trains vs. TEE? IIRC, TEE only reached 100 km/h or so
which isn't very fast compared to today.

No.

AFAIK 160 km/h max.

TEE was not a technology, but a marketing concept. Fast long distance
trains which run regularly in 1 or 2 hour intervals like commuter trains
do, with modern high comfort rolling stock. This is why I'd comparte them
to Inter/Eurocity, because it's the same idea.

OTOH ICE is a technology, comparable to TGV or Shinkansen.
Nothing comparable existed in Europe at the time. (Shinkansen did, in
Japan)

TEE would run as fast as a given track allowed them to. Their maximum
speed was whatever conventional trains in the 1970s could reach. I think
that was 160 km/h then. Of course not on all routes, just as today.

Hmm, this is interesting, but it may be time to end the cross-posting to
alt.music.kraftwerk, what do you think, any one else have an opinion?

Or should we carry on? :D

Not really - in Germany its place has been taken by the
"Euro-City"network and by normal inter-city trains.

One of the diesel sets which worked TEE services has been preserved,
having worked in Canada. The set will be available for charter tours.

My first job after school was working for the then DSG (German
Sleeping and Dining Car Co), and I did turns on several TEEs - the
Rhein-Main (Frankfurt -München), the Rembrandt (Frankfurt-Amsterdam)
and the Mediolanum (München-Brenner-Bolzano-Milano) on a set like the
one pictured (site in German only as far as I know):
