Default DOE entry on temporary GC stamp?

Hello,

On the temporary I-551 stamp in passport, does DOE stand for Date of
Entry, and is the same date that will show on the actual plastic
greencard when it arrives?

Also if anyone could please comment on how long it takes to receive
plastic card after the LPR stamp - specifically for asylee adjustment.
What service center can I call to inquire on the status of plastic card?

Thanks to all

The date of admission as an LPR would be the same as the date of entry on a
temporary I-551 stamp on your passport. It is the same day you were granted
status as a Legal Permanent Resident. Your final plastic card would say
"Resident Since--(date)" instead of date of entry. They all mean the same
thing.

It varies and it depends on the contractor that manufactures the plastic
card. Some would receive theirs in a few weeks or months while some would
have to extend their temporary I-551 stamp more than once even after the 1
year expiration date. Can't really say for sure.

Even though I was adjusted this year, my DOE is showing a year of 1997 -
so I am very anxious to apply for citizenship right now. Do you
recommend I wait for the plastic to arrive, or is it enough to submit
the copy of the stamp and appy now?

Thank you Matrix.

I should have clarified my earlier response.
The date of entry for immigrants would be the same as the date they were
granted permanent residence status. However, for those who came in to the US
as nonimmigrants and then later on were able to adjust their status to
immigrants, the date of entry would not be the same as the date of the start
of their permanent residence status. In those cases the DOA- date of
adjustment would be the start they were granted immigrant status. That date
would be the basis for counting time of residency in qualifying for
naturalization

Hello Matrix, thank you for responding.

In my case I was an asylee, and I was adjusted this year. But the DOE on
my stamp says 1997, and the officer told me I can go ahead and apply for
naturalization now.

I don't know where I can verify that. There are not many former
asylees around, and there seem to be a lot of employment based forums,
none for asylees.

I guess I should wait for the plastic card to arrive, but what if I am
indeed eligible now - why wait another year?? Dunno... what would you
recommend? And where can I call to inquire about the status of my
greencard?

Thanks again
