Hi Adam,
I would strongly recommend you contact a migration agent to talk this
through - every DIAC office has its own culture and standards and you
might get helpful advice from someone who went through the relatively
relaxed standards in London or the frighteningly restrictive standards
in some parts of the third world, and get entirely the wrong idea. If
you really don't want to engage an agent even for an advice
consultation, you should call IARC in Sydney on 02-92811609 and ask
whether they have a sister agency in Perth for this kind of basic
advice. Or you could look at their website
