Default Day 91 of RFE...time for a road trip to MSC???

Ok, it's day 91 of my RFE. I've waited patiently up to this point, but I
haven't heard anything yet. The form letter said 60-90 days, based upon
receiving my materials on Nov. 25th. I put in a "status inquiry" with MSC
almost 30 days ago, heard nothing back. Seems like trying to make more
"inquiries" is futile.

I contacted my Congressional Rep and explained my situation, they said they
would hear something from MSC in about another 2-4 weeks. (ugghh). I feel
like I've exhausted that avenue for now, I don't really want to pester them
with more phone calls. The waiting is REALLY starting to annoy me because
I've made some travel plans later in the year (with my wife) that are
starting to look in jeopardy, considering she's still stuck at MSC.

Anyway, I have a business trip coming up to Kansas City next week. It seems
to me that MSC (Lee's Summit) is in a suburb right outside of KC. So, I ask
*those in the know*, is it worth it, if I'm already in KC on business, to
stop in and try to talk to someone at the *customer service, retail counter*
(LOL) about the status of my case. Does such a thing even exist?
Obviously, I don't want to make a trip there without any reason.

BTW, for those curious about the inside of MSC, take a look at
http://www.hdrinc.com/information/de...&ParentID=2L26

By the looks of it, it seems like a very modern place, certainly a place
where it *looks* like they would run a tight ship. Lots of computers,
nothing seems antiquated to me. Looking at those pictures, I dazed in and
out of consciousness, thinking I might spot a glimpse of my file somewhere.
LOL! haha.

Rn,

No, such a thing does not exist. None of the service center have
any provision for anyone to stop by and say "Hello", let alone "Can you
help me?".

The photos by the interior design architect were a nice
find - thanks for posting the link.

Yup,
that's the place. I've toured that facility, and it is state of the
art. They don't show the "big purple wall" in the photos though
(actually, the center is very large and they are only showing you
photos from one room). I was kicking myself after my last tour of the
MSC as Jim (the director at that time) said it would have been
perfectly fine for me to bring in my camera and shoot some photos
(which I didn't bother to try to bring in based on other experiences
I've had at Service Centers when taking photos .... surrounded by golf
carts and security guards at the CSC the day before 9/11, had a roll of
film ripped out of my camera by a guard while standing in the VSC's
parking lot, etc.).

Jim and Nancy were allowed to select the interior
paint colors and the fabrics used throughout the facility, and they
were understandably very proud of the work they did (although Jim was a
little disappointed his request for bullet proof glass for his office
was not grantedÂ… he mentioned having bullets fly through his office
window on a number of occasions while serving as the director of the
TSC). I could type about that place for hours!

Actually, the CSC has a customer service counter. I've toured it many
times while touring the CSC. While the public can come in, the things
that can be accomplished at the counter are very limited. Really no
advantage in going to the CSC in person, except for one small thing.
Since this guy is asking about the MSC, and since I'm not sure if they
have such a counter (I'm pretty sure they don't, or at least they didn't
when I was last there) I'll keep this reply short.

Matt,

Thanks for correcting me.

I'm really amazed that a service
center would provide such a service - kind of like being able to walk up
to a GM factory and asking if they've got the dashboard put into your
new Corvette yet?

Regards, JEff

My point was that while they
have a counter, one can't really get any information or do anything
there (expect for one thing) that one can't get from the on-line page.
So there is really no point in going, although the place is crowded each
time I've been there.
