Default criminal conviction for a minor with aos

ok i have a 14 year old boy who has a conviction for theft, which was
commited in the usa. are aos interview should be in the next few
months, how is his conviction going to effect the outcome. will he be
denied, as he is only 14 will this conviction be overlooked.

I think it depends on what the conviction was for... if it was just
petty theft, I don't think it will matter. I read the rules on it
because I was concerned for myself as I had been arrested as a minor
also. I remember reading that it has to do with your sentence (if they
were in jail, and for how long), as well as the particular crime. You'll
definately need to get the police report and court disposition for the
incident, so I'd say start working on getting that asap, so that it's
one less thing to worry about when you receive your appointment letter!

Hi:

Don't assume he was "convicted." You may want an attorney familiar with
the law of the state in which the court proceedings took place.

thanks for the reply, it was delt with by the juvenile courts, he was
judged to be a juvenile delinquent [don't like that word]i was told at
the time he went to court that as he was going through juvinile court
and not adult court, then once he reches 18 the record can be
expunged.
