CREATING JOBS 101

Census estimates indicate that the U.S. population is expected to double by
2050 then double again and exceed ONE BILLION by 2100. Some independent
demographers predict we will reach ONE BILLION by 2088. Just to keep up with
population growth, we need to create an additional 150,000-200,000 new jobs
each month. These jobs are in addition to those normally required to replace
job losses and young workers entering the labor market. In December only 1,000
new jobs were created---in January, only 112,000 were created-a far cry from
the 150,000-200,000 required. Many were low paying jobs in the service
sector---a disturbing trend.

The employment surge of the 1990s was mainly due to the personal computer
industry and the Internet it spawned. The PC was developed in the late
seventies and reached its zenith in the nineties. Politicians had little to do
with the creation of the PC that spawned this robust job growth. A similar
event is unlikely to happen soon; thus, the chance of creating an additional
150,000-200,000 jobs per month in the near term is slim. With millions of
American workers unemployed you would think our politicos (of both parties)
would try to solve the problem; sadly, this is not the case.

You can`t create U.S. jobs by shipping jobs overseas and allowing up to three
million legal and illegal immigrants to enter the job market each year. Anyone
who can use a calculator should realize that this policy is flawed. With
automation replacing workers and a shrinking job market, the last thing we need
is an expanding labor force. Time is not on our side-every month we fall
further and further behind. To create jobs, we need to stem the flow of legal
and illegal immigrants that are flooding all parts of our country and bring
some stability into the job market. Without jobs there are fewer people buying
products and more on the dole. Anyone with an IQ higher than a clam should
realize that, unless our politicos act soon, we are courting a financial
meltdown.
