There are lots of banks in Grand Cayman. If they use computers they may
need you. Depends. Grand Cayman has it written in their Constitution
that non-nationals cannot own property, unless said property will
provide employment for locals. Higher taxes are imposed on non-national
property owners.
Jamaica has the highest poverty level and unemployment of all the
Caribbean, so that's one to avoid. Your bi-lingual skills as well as
programming might prove useful in a conversion project where some Latin
American corporation is migrating to a major software package developed
in an English speaking country. An International IT Consulting firm
might be able to help you find a long-term placement in a tropical
setting. Brush up on your most marketable skill set. If you have
COBOL, and some hot 4th Generation language like C++ or ABAP, there are
still companies converting from mainframe environments to Unix Box File
Server based environments. If you are Graphic Artist / Web Authoring
programmer that's the hottest you can get. You should be able to
present your resume to any international IT consulting company and name
the country where you'd like to work.
