I'd like to hear a few suggestions for a hotel in Copenhagen. I
have some specific preferences. It must offer a larger bed, at
least a double bed (two twin beds are not acceptable). I need a
bed without a foot-board (I'm tall). I am willing to stay at a hotel
out of the city center, as long as it is situated near a metro or rail
station. I'd really like to keep the price no higher than 80 Euros,
but that may be difficult as Copenhagen is an expensive city. Even
a hotel in a nearby city is acceptable, but Malmo is probably too
far (would cost me at least $20 per day in train fare to commute).
If you give a URL of the hotel, I can look at their photos to see
about their beds.

Would you also be willing to accept a room with a shared bath? That would be
your only hope for getting what you ask for, I think.
How about a room in a bed and breakfast (actually, there probably wouldn't
be breakfast)? Try www.citybed.dk and www.woco.dk
If you go to ryanair.com and click on the Hotel link, you can sometimes find
some less expensive deals, but probably still not for the price you are
looking for.
I don't think Malmo is *that* much cheaper, particularly when time and train
fare is considered.
It wouldn't hurt to try the usual standbys - Expedia, hotels.com, and so
forth. I would ordinarily recommend Priceline for the cheapest rates, but
your bedding requirements put that out of contention.

In my experience, Scandinavia is the only part of Europe where the hotel
beds were always long enough for my 6'1", whether in deluxe hotels or
B&Bs. And in Copenhagen I am below average size. I remember in the bars
in Copenhagen my eyes came up to about armpit elevation of the average
Dane. Those people are big.

Actually, now I remember two exceptions for the original poster, Casey.

The Malmo Formule 1 hotel is 1 mile from the train station and is very
cheap. It does have shared facilities. You would have to phone to ask about
the size of the bed.

The Malmo Ibis that is in the city center is more expensive, but I think
it's still less than 80 Euros. Similarly, phone to find out the size of the
bed. Malmo Ibis Stadion is cheaper but would be much more inconvenient.

I think these have a smallish double bed (not sure about length, just
talking about width) and a bunk that juts out of the wall, but as I said,
phone to ask about the beds.

You can find both hotels at the www.accor.com site.

I would still recommend against staying in Malmo if you really want to see
Copenhagen. It's worth the extra cost to be in a central location.

Try the Scandic Hotel in Glostrup or the Glostrup Motor Hotel on
Roskildeveg in Glostrup. That street heads directly into town alongside
the train station and Tivoli.

hostel with a weird web site about 2 km from the center of Copenhagen.
Again, you would have to phone to get the dimensions of the bed.
