Default Citizenship application timeline report

Hi everyone,

Below are the details of my recently finalized citizenship application.
Some preliminary information:

Landed in March 2000. Live in Hamilton. Applied in July 2003 (traveled
a lot on business between 2000 and 2003, mostly to US). Total
processing time is a little under 10 months, which is close to average.
I know people who applied after me and have taken oath several month
ago. However, I also know people who applied before me and are still
waiting.

Final notes on e-client. Once the application has been transferred to
the local office, the e-client is practically useless. Any updates in
it show up about a week after I actually receive the papers from the
office in the mail. Also, although Sydney received my application on
July 17, 2003, no record of it was available in e-client until November
13, 2003. Finally, even though e-client says that "We sent you a letter
acknowledging receipt of your application, and a study book called A
Look at Canada on July 17, 2003." The actual letter was dated August
13, 2003, and it did not arrive until the last week of August.

These are the e-client details:

We received your application for grant of Canadian citizenship (adult)
on July 17, 2003.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application, and a
study book called A Look at Canada on July 17, 2003.

We started processing your application on November 13, 2003.

Your file was transferred on November 19, 2003 to the Hamilton office
for the citizenship testing and taking of the citizenship oath. The
Hamilton office will contact you to write the Citizenship test.

We sent you a notice on February 26, 2004 [...] to appear and write the
Citizenship test on March 23, 2004 at 9:30am. [...] Thank you.

We sent you a notice on April 23, 2004 [...] to appear and take the Oath
of Citizenship on May 07, 2004 at 1:30pm. [...] Thank you.

Good luck to everyone with your applications.

Hi,

Do they do the Background/Security check after they send your application
to the regional offices (in your case Hamilton) or before that.
