Default Citizenship Application: Received letter to provide passport and proof of residence

My application was transferred to local office in June and I have just
received a letter from CIC asking me to provide photocopies of ALL
pages of old and new passports and documents that prove residence.
There are two forms to fill out. One for occupations in the last 4
years. Another one for detailed residence/absences in the last 4 years
with suggestions on what to send as proof. The letter stated that I
haven't fill in the "Occupation" info in my application form but I
couldn't find it elsewhere. Any idea why? They also say the purpose of
these documents are to enable the citizenship judge to make a
decision. I'm puzzled because I have more than 1095 days of physical
presence at the time I signed my application. Why is mine still a
"residence" case?

1. Anyone being asked to do the samething as me? Please share your
experience.

2. Is this some sort of "Quality Assurance" program they mentioned in
the application guide? I am probably the "unlucky" one who was
randomly picked.

3. I have quickly filled up the forms and assembled 100++ pages of
documentary proof(copies of passports, T4s, payslips, utility bills,
tax receipts, land title, air ticket boarding passes etc) and had it
delivered in person to the local office's mailroom in downtown
Vancouver. When do you think they'll resume my application? How long
do they normally check documents received?

4. I thought a face to face interview is normally conducted to verify
documents and establish proof. Do you know why they ask me to send
photocopies instead? It's complicated just to sort out those
documents.

5. Why didn't they ask for it earlier? The call centre told me
"clearances" was started on July 15th, a month after the file was
transferred. They visited my file again on August 30th and sent me the
above-mentioned letter. Does it mean they have obtained all
clearances?

Thank you very much.

Peter

Either you're borderline as your 1095 days go, or you're a random check.
As long as you didn't miscalculate and your documentation supports your
application, you'll be fine.

Good luck.

I never saw the 'occupation' column either?
Proof of residence? Lease etc
Old Passport Pages, I remember talking to CIC agent and they said it
wouldn't matter that much if one doesn't have old passport. I wasn't sure
about that statement

I am worried too about asking my old passport, coz one of the immigration
officer stamped the wrong year while entering canada and it's not easy to
explain that without being in person via other stamps

There must be some doubt in the mind of the officer that you have been
physically present in Canada for the required time. It seems you may have
left Canada from the wording of your post and that may be the cause for
their doubts. Just do as they ask as that is the simplest safest way to
proceed.

Default Re: Citizenship Application: Received letter to provide passport and proof of residence

I think the reason why they asked for "all pages" of my new and old
passports is because they want to check evidence of travel. This is
related to the residence form attached in the letter. I think they are
highly suspicious of men with prior working experience in the US. In a
way I am indirectly harmed by those liars who lied about their
residence in their application. I guess it is very difficult to find
honest people anymore.

So what is your timeline? Which stage are you in now? Which office is
processing your application?

I guess there is a price to pay for being honest and detailed. :-)
Anyway I have been working continuously for more than 3 years by now
in a Canadian company so I guess my payslips and T4s will satisfy
their concern.

Now I understand their workflow better. First they get clearances from
RCMP, CSIS and Immigration(security verification). After clearances
arrive, they'll verify residence. And after than Knowledge and
Language verification(citizenship testing) and finally Citizenship
Oath.

Thanks

Peter
