Default Citizenship?

I was born on British soil to American parents. I know that in some countries, if you are born on their soil, that makes you a citizen. Is this true in England? I can't find information on this anywhere. If not, do you think I might have an easier time getting a visa?

Thanks!!

Default Re: Citizenship?

I found this on the web:

The 1981 British Nationality Act created three categories of citizenship: British, British dependent territories and British overseas. It abolished the automatic right to British citizenship for those born on British soil to non-citizen parents.

sorry. I don't think there are many countries which allow citizen by soil only. The US does. France allows it, but it's not automatic. You have to decide when you turn 18 if you want to take on French citizenship.

If you are born before 1983, you would be a British national. Otherwise, you would be an American BUT WITH THE RIGHT TO ABODE. You do have more rights than a Canadian citizen.
