chidcare co-ordinatior queries on description

hi wondering if anyone knows what a child care facility of
substantial size means under the child care co-ordinator asco
description is? never thought the size of the place of work
mattered as long as you had the skills?
just hope someone could shed some light on this particular grey
area for me

not actually part of description but a requirment that the child care
facility must be of substantial size but i dont know what they mean by
that and how it affects on if you have the skills

Kelli, I interpret that as the 'amount' of children you have there or
could potentially have there, rather than the size of the building
itself. At your level they are looking at the management of not only the
building and the regs but also the people you employ and the amount of
kids you can have in the nursery.

My agent looked into this for me as I also have similar experience, but
I fell down in another area and have gone under my current role on my
app (which is nothing to do with childcare. lol)

Hi Kelli

OH half has just passed her TRA as child care co-ordinator. We e-mailed
TRA with regard to qualifications and they said level 3 is a minimum and
there equivalent qualification is Diploma in Childrens Services.

I read somewhere that the substantial size was a minimum of 20 children,
somebody might be able to confirm this.

OH currently works in a nursery with 70 kids, this has been for the
last 18 months. Previous to this she managed a nursery with only 16
kids for 3 years.
