Default Cancellation of old H1B visa in the passport

Greetings,

I am inquiring about someone who recently went to get a H1B visa stamp in
the consulate. Her visa was already approved by the BCIS (formerly INS). She
was first interviewed by an officer who told her that it is very unlikely
that H1B visa will be granted and she put a stamp on the last H1B visa page.
The stamp says 'Cancelled without Prejudice' . After that she was asked to
see one more officer who surprisingly gave the new visa stamp on the
passport without a problem.

What does 'Cancelled without Prejudice' means on a visa page? Does it mean
that the person will have difficulty in future if she applies for green card
or H1B visa again?

Please post your opinions.

Regards,
MK

'Cancelled without Prejudice' means just what it says. The
old visa was cancelled but it shouldn't prejudice any other application.
If the visa was cancelled with prejudice or for cause then it would be
stamped or notated with a section of law, or ground of inadmissibility.
For example, if it was stamped as "Cancelled pursuant to section 222(g)
of the INA then that could cause a denial of some immigration benefits.

Sometimes it's indicated by the acronym "CWOP".

It should have no
adverse effect on your friend's immigration applications.
