Default Canadian passport

I will get Canadian citizenship in 5 days. Immediately thereafter (2
to 3 days) I need to travel abroad. By that time I am in no position
to receive my new Canadian passport. Can I use my original passport
for the purpose of the trip and passing Canadian border? Will I have
any problems on return to Canada? Finally, can I apply for Canadian
passport from abroad, from France in my case? I will be staying abroad
for approx. 6 weeks.

That would depend on the paspsort you have. If you would normally not
require a visa to enter canada as a visitor, say you have a French passport,
you will not have a problem as you will have you Citizenship certificate.
Your probem will not be in Canada but getting on the airplane in Paris. My
expereince in leaving paris is that they scrutinize documents very closely
and if anything doe not make sense then you have a problem. I suggest you
apply for Cdn paspsort as soon as you arrive in France.

For an extra fee (I believe it is double the cost), you can have your
passport request expedited and issued within 2 days. Good Luck!!
