Default In Canada while PR Card issued???

Hello there everyone,

Would this be possible:-

If I visited Canada as a holiday but while there my PR card came through
in the UK, could it be forwarded by my family for me to then complete
landing details at wherever I needed to present myself in Canada?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Many thanks

Abby

Nope, You would have to leave Canada, even to US and re-enter to be
"landed". I assume you mean your Immigrant visa rather than PR Card.

Hi PMM

Hmmmmm...

Well I am being sponsored by my husband in Montreal and was hoping to
move out there for a while before things had been passed and then
sorting out the landing details etc while over there. What is the
process once my application has been passed? I'm not sure what
happens next.

Could you fill me in, I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks

Abby

The next step for you is to be asked to send in your passport for visa
issuance. You could ask a friend or family member to forward it to you and
you would have to physically leave Canada to complete the landing process.
Normally that means going to the border, crossing into the USA and then
taking the "Return to Canada" turnoff to avoid US Customs. Landing then can
take place at the Canadian Immigration Station of whatever border port of
entry you use.

Hello Jim,

Many thanks for your reply. Could I just clarify things with you though
so I know for sure what to do.

Will I have to send my passport for the visa issuance to the Canadian
High Commission in London?

Will they send my passport back with the visa forms for my family to
then forward to me in Canada?

I'm not fully sure what you meant for the travelling across the US
border thing to finalise landing details, could you explain that part
to me again please, sorry to be a pain, I just want to make sure I
don't get into any trouble...I'll be living in Montreal by the way if
thats of any help.

You can email me if you like, if its easier...my email is

Many thanks for your time.

Regards,

Abby
