Default Can I sponsor my mother to immigrate if she's on visitor visa now?

Hello experts,

My mother is in Canada on visitor visa now. I'm her only child and want to
sponsor her here, so that she needn't go back to home country. Is it
possible? How?

Thanks

Amber

Alas, parents are only eligible to be sponsored from outside of Canada.
She would have to return to her home country.

First - Amber's mother cannot be sponsored from within Canada under normal
circumstances and trying to go through Humanitarian & Compassionate route is
in most cases impossible with parents who don't face any serious danger when
returning home.

Second - PR application must be submitted to the visa post in Amber mother's
home country, but if they have well prepared case interview will be waived,
so there may be no need to even go there. The only problem is trying to keep
mother in Canada - we haven't been told what is mother's nationality thus it
is impossible to predict how long process may take and if there are any
chances for extending mother's visitor visa for that long.

The problem is that the department is not longer showing any
sensitivity towards parents and not approving very many applications
from within Canada. In the past they would at least consider the age
and status ie widow widower as demonstrating some measure of
humanitarian consideration but that appears no longer to be the case.

With the information provided, I wasn't wrong. The original post didn't
refer to any humanitarian situations that would really qualify. Just being
the only child doesn't really cut it normally, since in all reality, if it
was a big deal, the only child wouldn't have left in the first place. No,
that's not intended as a slight toward the original poster, just a general
comment.
