Australia Australia is geographically the sixth-largest country in the world, and the only one to occupy an entire continent. Living in such a large country makes is difficult to find other expats. Connect with each other here.

Question Australia migration advice

I have close family in Sydney but my occupation is not on the Sydney SOL list, any advice would be appreciated.

I would ask if you have any family in Victoria that you could get Designated area sponsored visa.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I do not have family in Victoria. My partner and I understand that Sydney is a popular destination for migrants, we are not bothered if we can not live there (Australia is a large country) what we struggle to understand is why we can not be sponsored by family living in Sydney to live elsewhere in Australia.

That I cant help with I am afraid. If you dont meet the skilled visa points you could possibly consider STNI scheme, or business visa. Try www.immi.gov.au you would need to read you way throught the whole website in order to make an informed decision yourselves.

My husband suggested that if you meet the points without sponsorship that you go for 136 skilled independant visa. Basic points test is 120 all the info will be on www.immi.gov.au
