Default ASCO code 2211-11 Accountant ???

Hi everyone,

I am preparing my application now and need your advice.

I would like to apply for 136 visa and would like submit my application
under ASCO code 2211-11 Accountant.

My career history as follows:

Jul 2005 to present -> Finance Mgr (1+ yrs)
Jul 2004 to Jul 2005 -> Accounting Mgr (1 yr)
Aug 1999 to Jul 2004-> Financial Accountant (5 yrs)

As the Finance/Accounting Mgr, I am the "accountant" of the firm as
well it is a small finance team and I handle the financial reporting
and tax matters.

Questions:
1) Would I encounter any problems with choosing 2211-11 as my nominated
occupation as my official title doesn't say so? I am currently an
associate member of CPA Australia and have obtained my skilled
assessment letter from CPA australia.

2) Points for specific work experience- can I claim the 10 points for
working 3 out of the 4 years immediately before application?

Basically, my concern is that whether DIMA looks at the job title or
the detailed job functions to determine the nominated occupation?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi,

Have you read the GSM booklet issued by DIMIA? This is the link:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books6.htm

I also recommend you have a look at this web page:

migration/136/eligibility-specific-experience.htm

Hi Syl,

Case officers ought to look at the detailed job functions every time,
although in practice they are sometimes known to just go on the title.

However your situation looks reasonably clear. Your nominated
occupation is the one given to you by CPA in their assessment letter;
the recent work experience you describe sounds as though it is "closely
related" to whichever accounting occupation CPA has given you.

Cheers,

George Lombard
