Default Applying yourself.....

those that have applied for a visa by yourself and not through an
agency, have you found any links/sites that help with the steps (step-by-
step!) for forms required, when and what etc etc!!

I guess you'll be applying for the 138?! If so, we found it very
straightforward just READ everything carefully.

Depending on your occupation, the skills assessment may be far more
complicated than the visa app!

Yes it is a 138.
So is it best to print booklet 6 out and follow that step by step??
First move is to send qualifications/experience to ACS (IT Project
manager) for assessment??

Think I'm gonna go to bed now, and tackle this on a clearish head
tomorrow?!!!:sneaky:

I've applied for a 136 myself, it wasn't particularly hard.
Everything you need is on the dimia site (yes the skills assessment
is the first step)

Booklet 6 details the visa process (yes print it out!).

This details the ACS skills assessment:

We applied without an agent, I used the dimia website, booklet 6, read
through the application form to see what info I needed and asked lots
questions on here. Ours was a relatively straightforward application for
me hubby and 2 kids ages 11 and 6.

Good luck with yours!

Hi we applied for a 136 without an agent. It does the alot of patience
and repetitive form filling out but hey we managed. Good luck.

We did everything ourselves as well. And as others have said, just make
sure you read it cover to cover twice before you start any paperwork.
Skills assessment is the first stage.

thanks people...think we will go solo, and risk lots of questions on
here! Just gathering info for skills assesment, worryingly you need a
reference from your boss, so looks like he is going to find out my wife
is leaving:rofl:

Would certainly like to know more about this possible points increase
for English speakers...dont know if that will result in a higher total
points required, coz currently we are only 5points short of a 136
visa, so we're having to go the sponsored route via my brother in Oz.
If we got an extra 10 points as it suggests we could go the shorter
route of a 136?

Hmmmmm, just when we thought we were underway!!
