Hi,

Is there a profession in Australia that is suitable for people with
public health or epidemiology background for immigration purposes? I am
a pharmacist but currently working in Public Health/Epidemiology field.

I've researched a bit on websites in Australia but could not get any
suitable answer.

Public Health - Yes!

Epidemiology - Yes!

Generally positions in these fields are filled by Health professionals (RNs,
Social Workers, medical scientists, med practitioners) who have specialist
post graduate qualifications.

My daughter works in 'Infection Control' in a major metropolitan hospital.
She has a BN; Grad Dip Pub Hlth Promotion and Master of Public Health
degrees. She is part of a multi-disciplinary team which investigates
atypical infection rates; in-services new staff; conducts professional
development for continuing staff; develops protocols; monitors compliance
etc etc etc

Positions in these areas are filled by advertisement followed by competitive
application! Immigrants who meet the required criteria can and do apply for
them. To my knowledge few are specifically recruited from overseas to fill
vacancies.

Thanks A Mate for useful information.

Is it easy to fill the jobs in public health and epidemiology from
local people in AUS?

Do they recruit overseas professionals and if so how good are chances
to get a job offer?
