Default any events in London/Paris in 1-2 week of august?

Hi there,I was planning to take my family on a 2 city vacation in
Paris & london in the 1st 2wks of this August.I wanted to ask those
aquainted with these locations if there are any large scale
celebrations/events/political demonstrations that are held annually at
that time of year so I can plan around them.

thanks,

Yes. The whole of France goes on holiday in August. Paris will be empty apart
from the tourists.

Not really, in fact Paris is pretty quiet around then as
the French seem to head off for their holidays
around that time.

London is pretty busy as its the school holiday season
and you should avoid the last weekend as thats a
public holiday but the first 2 weeks should be fine.

PS

Please try to get out of London a little

Keith
