Things have been very hectic the past week for me, so I haven't been
able to check these boards or post really for a bit. Yesterday the 25th
of November, my sweetie had his interview in London. I thought I would
post his experience here for everyone to read since so many have helped
us by doing the same. Here goes...
First off he said they did not ask for half of the things he and I put
together for the interview. But I wanted to be over-prepared instead of
under-prepared.

We also decided that he would take the coach into
London the night before the interview, and that he's spend the night at
the Bryanston Court Hotel. It's located just across the street from the
doc's office, so it would be easy for him to get there as soon as people
began to line up outside.
Once he arrived in London the 24th, he walked to his hotel and checked
in. Since it was still early, he went for a walk about the area to plan
out his route from the doc's office to the Embassy for the next day.
During his walk he got a bite to eat as well. Aparently London is back
on high alert and the embassy's security was even higher than normal.
There was a US Millitary helicopter that was circling/hovering over the
Embassy the entire time my fiance was in London.
Once he had planned out his route for the next day, he went back to his
room to relax for a bit (well, as relaxed as one can be before their
interview hehe). I had good timing in that I gave him a call at the
hotel just ten minutes after he got back from his walk. We talked for a
bit, although it was extremely hard for me to hear him. I wished him
luck and said I loved him and so on. His night was short and filled
with checking his papers.
He got up and took a shower and had some tea in the morning. He left
the hotel by 7:40am since there was two people already waiting outside
the doc's office below. He only had to wait a short while in line, as
the doors were opened at 8am sharp at the doc's. As he entered the
first room, he was handed a pink folder and told what to do with it. I
had drilled into his head what to expect, so he was prepared. He put
his passport, 1 photo, medical questionaire, and his vaccination records
into the pink folder and was one of the first to had it in to the
reception desk.
He sat down and got ready for a wait since I had told it can be a while
before you get called up, even if you're the first to hand in your
folder. He got lucky though, and was the second person called up to pay
the fee. He went up, paid his fee, was given back his passport and
another folder, then told to go downstairs. He put his folder in the
slot on the wall and sat down. He was only sitting a minute before he
was called in for his blood sample. As usual the irish lady nurse was
extremely good at what she does. He said it was painless and very
quick. Before he knew it, he was being lead back to the cubicles by the
Mad Radiologist Paul.
He agreed that Paul is extemely funny and makes the whole experience
easier by keeping you entertained. I don't think I should say any of
his jokes though, as it may ruin it for others hehe. But the cubicles
really do have saloon-style doors on them.

My sweetie was the
second to get his X-ray done, and said it took all of one minute from
the time his name was called, to the time he got back to his cubicle.
As he got back, he and the first guy were told that the doctor hadn't
arrived yet and it would be a minute or two before he would be in.
They waited a short while, then the first guy got called. My sweetie
was having a good time listening to the mad radiologist and his antics
as he continued down the line of cubicles doing X-rays. The first guy
came back about ten minutes later. Then my sweetie was called in by the
doc. He mention straight off that he would need an MMR shot, and the
doc answered, more paperwork and laughed. The doc took his blood
pressure (nervs made it a little high), then asked if he wore glasses.
He said no and the doc says no need for an eye chart then. Then he
looked at his hands and fingernails (not sure what they were checking
for there?), all the while, the doc is ticking things off on his papers.
Then he asked him if he had ever had chickenpox...yes. Finally he asked
him to hop up on the bed. The doc pokes and proded and listened to his
heart and lungs. Finally he said to go and get dressed and head off to
the Embassy. My sweetie was shown a second nurses room and given a
sheet for his MMR. Paid the £35 and got his MMR injection. He was also
given the worksheet showing all his vaccinations by the nurse and told
to keep it safe for the AOS paperwork.
My sweetie was out of the doc's in record time, 9:05am. He made his way
to the Embassy the route he had decided on the previous night. When he
got there he saw the first guy standing at the front of the line
waiting. Once he got up there, he found out the guy with the list of
names wasn't there yet so they had to wait. Once the guard with the
list arrived, they were let in, to the dismay of the 300 people in line
hehe. He said it was quite mad how many people were lined up outside.
The first guy waiting for my sweetie to get through as my sweetie set
off the metal detector with the £1 coin in his pocket but went through
ok a second time. The guards told them to go in the wrong door, but
they found their way a minute or two later. Inside they went through
another security checkpoint, where the guards take the cell phones away.
That guard was joking that everytime he got enough cell phones, he sent
them off to his brother to sell.
After looking at my letter (described what to expect for him so that he
wouldn't get lost or anything

), he told the first guy they had to go
right and up the stairs. As they got close, the huge glass door opened
without them buzzing the door. Then he told the first guy to go to
booth 1 and hand in his appointment letter, while my sweetie went to
booth 2 to do the same. They ended up being attended to at the same
time (first ones there). They sat down for just about 4 minutes then
were called in turn to booth 3. There they asked for the payment slip,
affidavit, ADIT pictures, passport, birth certificate, and police
report. He handed my sweetie back most of the papers that I had with my
affidavit, then asked him to sit back down. By the time he sat down,
the first guy was being sworn in at booth 6.
My sweetie was sitting all of 5 minutes when the first guy was finished
and he was called up to booth 6. He was sworn in and then asked a few
simple questions...
Have you ever been to the States? -yes
How many times? -4 times
Did you see Kae each time you went? -yes I did
After that, the interviewer inquired about my finances. He wasn't too
happy with what he saw infront of them and asked my sweetie why there
seemed to be some evidence and information missing. He responded that
the person that took the paperwork before had handed most of it back to
him. So the interviewer asked for the papers back now. He looked them
over and was satisfied with that information. He gave my sweetie the
forms that he needed to sign and to write my name on. As he did this,
he was told that things look good and for him to return at 12:30.
Pending the blood test results, he would be issuing my sweetie his
visa!!!!!
My sweetie looked up at him a minute, sort of shocked that the
interviewer had just said that. Then he says that he thanked him 5
times and shock his hand until the guy walked away hehe. They had never
asked for proof of our relationship, no pictures nothing.
When my sweetie sent in his forms from the packet 3, he had been told
not to send in the IV-15 Checklist with them since he was waiting on his
police report still. Then, he got his packet 4 just a few days before
he got his police report. When we wrote in and asked what to do with
his checklist, he was told to hand it in at the interview. But the
interviewer didn't want it hehe. So, now he has X-rays that noone wants
from him but that he has to carry with him, and a checklist that noone
wants hehe.
It was only 9:50am when he left the Embassy to kill time until 12:30.
He went for a walk to Starbucks and got some coffee and walked about
a bit. He ended up sitting in the park across from the Embassy and
people-watched for a while. He says it was so nice to finally relax
and stop worrying.
Around 12pm he headed back into the Embassy and saw some people from the
doc's office from that morning were just getting there. He went back
through the glass door and say the first guy up at one of the booths
being handed his visa and brown envelope. He took a seat and was called
up two minutes later. He was explained the restrictions of the visa,
then they wished us luck and welcomed him to the US.

He was given
his passport back with visa inside, and his sealed brown envelope.
Then he caught a cab to Victoria Station and had a 4 hour wait until his
coach came to take him home. His longest wait of the day hehe.
