Aren't all new migrants busy? I expect to "hit the ground running", the
paper trail, a rental, cars, new job etc etc etc

Right, I've calmed down now.

Would I need a second set of police checks and another medical? Or can
the other ones be used?

I'm really confused as to what to do now, all applicants are waiting for
the reference number for the "labour agreement" being set up by the
employer with DIMA. When this arrives thier visas could come through
within a couple of months while I may be waiting for a CO.

Would it be out of order to write and phone DIMA once I have this
reference number for the labour agreement and see what their take on it
is?

I'd hate to lose the job opportunity because of VISA delays,

Sorry, don't understand the question. Medicals are valid between
various applications - in fact the LCU processes them for both general
skilled migration applications and 457 applications so there's a
centralised database case officers can access - and you also don't need
separate police clearances now that you can just scan and email them to
the ASPC, but 457s don't require police clearances in any event.

Cheers,

George Lombard
