Default Agent or No Agent ?

We are currently at the beginning of the process and are wondering what
benefits there are in having an immigration agent in Australia or
whether it is ok to "go it alone". Would be interested to hear other
opinions whether they feel agents are a waste of money or useful to
have.

We are applying for a skilled sponsored visa.

Many thanks.

Had you seen the
FAQ at the top of the page?
Question 4:

http://ptlabs.topcities.com/faq0.html#basic004

Lots of
people got it alone, lots use an agent(in Oz).
All depends on your
situation.
This has also been discussed many times before, so try a
search.
    :)

There are some very helpful agents on this forum, and people
have also had good experiences with them when they hired them.

Good
luck!

IN a normal/simple situation, I'd say try it yourself.
Have you
read Booklet 6 yet?

If you are confident to go it alone, then go for it.

If like myself,
have very little time on my hands then an agent is a god send.

We are
using the crew at Go Matilda and are worth there weight in gold. Alan,
Glenn, Greta and co have been extremely helpful with our application so
far.

I personnally would not have done it by myself as there are
certian aspects of the application, especially the skills assessement,
that i would not have the proffesionalism to tackle.

Best of luck in
what choice you make.

Rob

But the choice is yours.

If you
use one, make sure you have an easy case for them to deal with! Mine
wasnt so easy so they werent interested and didnt help. :(
I didnt even
get on the first rung of the ladder so I will have to rely on the help
from you guys on this forum for advice.

Hi Ezzkazz,

I am surprised to read
that an agent didnt want you because your case wasnt easy. Do you mind
me asking what your case exactly is?

Good luck to you all!

fabie

Hi Fabie,
Thanx for the interest.
Its a
bit of a catch 22. I want to emigrate to OZ but I havent any formal
quals after secondary school. I have many certs & licenses and hold a
managerial position. I was kinda hoping that I could go the STNI route
for victoria as a 'nurseryperson' but my current job didnt match too
well, but i have recently learnt that the company i work for will have a
vacancy for a position that matches pretty much exactly to the above
occupation.
My problem is that I am just about to get a good payrise in
the current position i am in but it doesnt match the job description too
well and if i get get the vacancy that does meet the job description i
will have to take a paycut 4k a yr!
If i take the vacancy and find out
its still not good enough or i am not experienced enough in the eyes of
the skills assessor i have lost money and lost the previous job that i
preffered doing.

I am not dissing agents but it was them that
approached me and asked me to send my CV to them. I was willing to pay
for thier services for emigration but just wanted to get where i stand
clarified first before proceeding.(thats if i had anything to proceed
with).

I just feel sometimes the agents come on here to drum up
business and then take the easy cases. Its a bit harsh maybe to some but
when it comes down to it....its a business to them and they are only on
here to market their services.

Now i feel bad for expressing my opinion
but to be led halfway up the garden path then be told they are for too
busy is upsetting.
I am a geniune, honest person that want to know
whether i had a chance thats not too much to ask is it.

Never mind.
