hey... I didn't realise it will be so inconvenient for you to take it
again. Sorry.... I live in a city and the test center is like 20
minutes from me.

I think there ~might~ be a way around it, seeing how you are only half a
band away from 6, and in just one component out of 4 too. If you read
the advice from IEAust again, "English language
Engineers Australia requires all applicants meet a minimum English
language standard of Band 6.0 in speaking, listening, reading and
writing on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
You may sit either the Academic or General test"

There are exemptions given if you have a Masters degree or higher, but
from an Ozzie University. If you have done a number of years / exchange
program in an institute where the medium of instruction is wholly
English, it MIGHT give you some grounds to plead the case.

My suggestion is this.... Look, if migrating to Australia is important
to you.... then do take the IELTS again. Take the other module
(Academic) or something. And do some test papers before hand to get the
feel of things.

All the best.

Even if IEAust permits alternative proof of English proficiency,
DIMA will have none of it when assessing an applicant's English
language points.

Unless the original poster does not need 20 points for English, there's
little value in bypassing IELTS only for DIMA to knock the OP back for
not meeting the passmark.

Long and short, IELTS is the sure way of securing English points for non-
native speakers.

Hi Asha,

No way Jose. If you're in doubt about this then call Engineers
Australia direct.

Cheers,
