Default advice on PR card pickup

Hello everyone,

I have a friend who is in a difficult position concerning her PR card.
She is a permanent resident of Canada and applied for her PR card on
Oct 6th. On her application she approved release of information to her
husband. They live in Toronto.

Initially there was no hurry, however there has been a death in her
family in her home country ( Kenya ). It is imperative that she leaves
Canada and goes to Kenya within the next month until at least Feb 2004.

She has not received her PR card yet. Is it possible for her to fly to
Kenya and stay there until her husband ( who remains in Toronto) can
pick up her card and mail it to her, so she can return to Canada? If
not what solution is there for her?

Thank you for your help and advice on behalf of my friend.
