Default advice for landing?

does anyone have any good advice for landing? what sort of documents
you should bring with you (besides the landing docs), what the
procedure is at the border? helpful hints? suggestions? I'll be
landing near or in vancouver. I havent decided if i am going to fly or
drive in yet. Any wisdom someone could pass on would be very welcome.

For one thing you had better bring a list of your goods to accompany you and
to follow later for your customs declaration. Check out the CIC webiste and
CCRA too for further info.

Hi,
Just a quick question;
can one do landing on "implied status"?
thanx.

what exactly is implied status?

i am sure you have to have the immigrant visa in your passport and the
landing papers with you when you decide to land.

just an update of what i have thought of so far to bring with me as
far as paperwork goes:

- list of things i will be bringing with me
- goods to follow list. does anyone know if this needs to be on the
official form (customs form b4a i think) or if it should be on your
own paper so customs can copy it to the official form? i've heard
conflicting statements.
- driver's license, birth certificate, other vital records
- school certificates
- recall history for my car
- driving record and insurance claims record
- title to my car

the car related stuff i don't think i will need if i decide to fly
there, but i would rather be safe than sorry. can anyone think of
anything that i am missing?

Todd,

The only things you require when you land are:

Passport

Immigration Docs

List of items to follow

Address for PR card to be sent to

All the other things you mention will probably be useful in helping
establishing yourself in Canada. Can I also suggest that you bring all
your education/training certificates and your medical records.

I personally had my goods to follow listed on normal A4 which I printed
from my computer. This was acceptable (be sure to include items you are
landing with).

Hope this helps,

Herc
