Default ACS skills assessment - references

Ok, I have read the FAQ on this, but have a further question.

The ACS guidelines on references state that references must be supplied
on company headed paper. However the last company I worked for up until
about two years ago went bust, and no longer exists. I'm not on the MODL
and need 4 years of references.

Are the ACS likely to accept a reference from my former line manager,
although he now works elsewhere? Or do I need to wait two years before I
can apply?

Cheers.

May cause a problem. ACS are incredibly bureaucratic and sticklers for
the 'tick in every box', even when valid reasons for not being able to
do so are provided.

I suggest that you speak with an agent. George Lombard is helpful and
posts on here frequently.

Dougv,

Do a search on the archives. Creative usage of keywords can reveal
interesting results. For example:

I had sent references sent to ACS from my HR deptts and they wrote
simple statements like " to whom it may concern...blah blah" however
ACS rejected my refernces and requested fresh references from my
managers. They specified that they prefer references from Managers rather
than HR. and a few weeks later I got a positive assessment.

I got new references ( on company letter head though) from my Managers.

I think you should explain your situation and submit proof of your
employment with these companies that no longer exist and then submit
refernces from your old managers ...however make sure that they are
detailed and highlight your IT skills....

Best,

GS

Gaurav, My company, a s/w MNC has a policy that does not allow managers to sign these letters specifically if it is required on a company letter head. I finally managed to get it from HR quoting this letter is for higher studies on a co. letter head. This letter also has my technical expertise listed. In the reference letter they have explicitly mentioned that this letter is issued at the request of employee for higher studies. Will this have an impact on ACS decision ? Additionally I have taken 2 reference letters from my lead and co worker on a plain paper and have planned to attach their business cards. what will ACS say about this ? Should I additionally furnish the statutory declaration about my relationship with them ?
Any suggestions for my case. - Kevin
