Default ACS appointment

Hi All,

I received an ACS appointment notice for I-485 case (category 1). Does
anyone know what it is? I don't think it is for fingerprinting because
it doesn't say fingerprinting on the top. Is it the kind of appointment
that an official will interview you? The notice just asked me to bring
one identification document with me. It doesn't asked me to bring my
spouse along nor did any supporting documents. If it is an interview,
should I bring my spouse and all supporting documents (like payroll,
passports, photos, bank account, .....) just in case?

Thanks,
Lee

It is for pending AOS case (I-485). My question is your question. I have
never seen an AOS interview notice before. Does description I gave in my
first post sounds like an AOS interview appointment?

thanks,
Lee

HI Lee.

It's not your AOS interview. It is for the fingerprinting in
conjunction with your I-485. The fingerprinting is done at a place
called an ASC office. All you need is your ID, and your NOA and/or
appointment letter. Your spouse does not need to come along...in fact
they don't usually let the USC spouse back in where the fingerprinting
is done, unless they need a translator.

It should be a quick appointment, most ASC fingerprint appointments only
last about 10 or 15 minutes.

Did you apply for EAD? You might want to see if they can also do your
1-digit print and photo for the EAD at the same appointment. They will
usually accommodate you that way.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I just did fingerprinting for EAD application 2
weeks ago. The reason I am asking is the notice for EAD fingerprinting
did say "fingerprinting" on the top of notice, but this ACS appointment
notice doesn't say anything. I did notice the category is 1 (I had
category 2 in the EAD fingerprinting notice).

thanks,
lee

Rene - I was wondering something similar .. I have my second
fingerprinting to be done on 14 October (for the I-485). When I
received the notice telling me that I have have the appointment I
noted at the top that it said "Code: 1". It didn't contain any
reference to "ASC".

On my I-485 it said "ASC Code: 3" and on my application for the EAD it
said "ASC Code 2". When I e filed for my EAD a few weeks ago the
confirmation sheet was consistent with the EAD of last year i.e stating
ASC
Code 2.

THat's what is confusing me at the moment i.e the fact that it
doesn't say ASC Code .. which makes me wonder if it's some sort of
other code?????

Ohhh too bad they fell on separate days. Oh well...does the your
appointment letter say anything about "biometrics"?

But, it's the 10-digit fingerprinting for your AOS, anyway.

Hi Lara,

I'm sorry, but I don't really know what the coding all means. I know
when my husband had his done last year (when we called to make an
appointment - different procedure), they did ask for the codes (1 and 2
in our case). But I don't know their significance.

Best Wishes,
Rene

I'll check whether the notice says anything about "biometrics" tonite.

BTW, could anyone give me a desciption of the AOS interview notice? like
what it says on the notice, the title of notice, does it specifically
ask you to bring your spouse or lawyer with you? does it ask you to
bring supporting documents?....

Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee,

The AOS interview notice does say something like "Adjustment of Status
to Permanent Resident" at the top, in the description. You'll recognize
it as being a lot more detailed than any of the other NOAs. Although it
looks just like an NOA, it's got a couple of detailed lists on
it...things you MUST bring to the interview, and things you SHOULD bring
to the interview. It does say that your spouse MUST attend the
interview. It has a long list of the supporting documents you must and
should bring. It's a whole page covered with tiny print.....it's very
detailed.

Best Wishes,
Rene
