Default A dumb question about 136.

We were originally going to apply as 138 sponsored and had signed the
forms and handed everything over to our agent in Oz. Then, hubby's
trade came on the MODL and our agent said that we now had enough
points to put us in on 136 skilled independent and this would probably
be quicker.

My question is... does everybody on 136 skilled independent have to
lodge the $100k bond?

On our original form where it asked how much money we would be bringing
into the country, I assume that is for your own personal expenses -
housing, living etc. I don't ever remember signing that we would pay
$100k. I am now panicking because I read about people paying their bond
and I suddenly wondered if that was a requirement of 136?

I sent an email to my agent last night, I have just got in from work and
she hasn't replied and Australia office hours are finished now.

Someone please put me out of my misery.

Anne

Anne, you're probably getting confused because with the 138 there was a
required AoS Bond of $5000 to be paid. The $100K bond is, as others have
said, optional if you need additional points (5 points in this case) to
reach the pass mark for your visa. I assume that you have >120 points
without the need for the $100K bond, so you don't need to pay it. Folks
like youcanlaugh and wmoore have used these "bonus" points to reach 120.
See Booklet 6 in the points test section for DIMIAs explanation of the
bonus points scheme.

Cheers,
Brian

we originally were going to have to pay the 100k bond when we applied
but because it has taken them so long to process ours (june 04) hubbies
trade appeared on the modl 3 weeks before they assessed us so now we
don't have to!! so the waiting has saved us a bit of money, warning
though, it can work the opposite way, if your trade is taken off the
modl before they assess your app then you lose the points! x loidy

Also, what people should remember is when asked how much money you are
taking with you and if you are worried about amounts etc is:

1) If you are not planning to go for say another year then you can add
what you may save in that time.

2) Then, on the other hand you have to estimate the cost of moving too.

Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

.Regarding this,
We also had lil problems filling this.
Should we try to get some big (what really is big?) amount of cash and
goods, or should we state something that can be easily arranged..

Any ideas where/and how this info is used?
On border? or by DIMIA to assest our possibilty settle?..

It's just used for stats. They don't use it in any way for the visa
application itself AFAIK. Remember too that the full question reads how
much will you bring in cash AND assets, so you can add the value of all
your stuff.

Thanks. That we were hoping for.
Not assuming that they start to value my cash&goods on border.. might
require some skills from customsfficer.. ;)
