with only 9 days I would drop Milan except for passing through and quick
visit to the Cathedral and split my time between Venice and Florence --
Rome is great BUT not a quick trip and adding it jams too much in to
such a short trip

We didn't even visit Rome till our third trip to Italy -- and then spent
5 days the first time and 10 the second -- wonderful city -- but you
don't have to jam everything into one trip
