Default 2nd stage spouse visa - no letter yet!!

Hi there,
At the 1st of March it is 2 years ago that I applied for a spouse visa
in Berlin. I am expecting the letter form DIMA about the second stage
since X-mas (two months before 2 year anniversary of date of
application) but nothing yet. Last week I rang the general enquiry
number from DIMA to ask whether my letter could be lost in the X-mas
post but the lady (operator) said that I had to be patient and that when
I had not received anything by the 1st of March that I should ring back.
I am worried now that the letter has already been send but got lost in
the mail without me knowing about it ...... Should I ring them again? I
don't want DIMA to get annoyed with me but I can't stand the wait ...
Thanks,
Ak

Ak,

This may be obvious, but I take it you advised DIMA of your permanent
change of address when you moved to Australia?

My 2 years is up on the 31st of January and I only recieved my
paperwork on friday! I shouldnt worry yet, I called them also when I
was waiting as I thought my papers may also be lost, but they are just
slowed down because of the Christmas period I was told. They advised me
to get my police checks sorted and start collecting up things to send
in so I was ready when the paperwork did arrive. The paperwork states
you have 2 months from the date of the letter to send everything back.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Peter, yes they know my Australian address (Although we travel at
the moment, I have a fixed postal address!)

Rancid, thank you as well. I have nearly all my paperwork sorted, so
when the letter finally arrives it should not take me more than a week
or so to send it all back. But I hope they won't let me wait as long as
they let you wait!! :frown:
