Default 136 MODL: Please help!

Hi all,

Based on my own calculations, I think I'm eligible, but this migration
site says NO! Help me out here, please? I'm already about to send off
my documents for skills assessment.
Age: 22 [30 points]
Work: Accountant - [60+15 (MODL)]
English: IELTS Band 6 [20]
Self assessed total: 125

So I think I pass the 120 mark for a 136, but some agents say no, some
say yes. Can someone please clarify it for me? Everything else is
clear, I spoke to the NIA people and they said I'll get a positive
assessment. I have no health problems, no prior convictions, no issues
travelling to Australia etc.

Thanks!

Janice

Dear Naturelover,

I will have 12 months of work experience by the time I send off the
application. Is that not sufficient? Thanks.

dear janice

definatly u meet the recent work experince requirement for general
skilled migartion ( for 60 points occupation, u must have an experience
of at least 12 months of the 18 months immediatly before u apply).
i think u meet all the requirement for general skilled migration but
pls carefully read booklet no 6 before u apply

Dear jags,

That's a burden off my shoulders! I've been fretting about this for a
while. Have you applied for your visa yet? Which class? How is it
progressing?

Hey Jan,

Looks like we're in the same boat.
I'm going to apply for a 136 as accountant as well.

I also had some agent said I'm eligible and some said I'm not eligible
but after a lot of research and asking here, there and everywhere, I'm
confident that I am eligible unless DIMIA have other consideration that
they do not publish.

I had my skill assessed by NIA and turned out it's valid for 5 years.
So no harm on getting your skill assessed now. You can always apply
later if you're not confident to apply now.

Where are you heading anyway?

yogi.

Hi Janice,

have a look at booklet 6 on the immigration website www.immi.gov.au

i think it has a checklist in it for the points. Use this rather than
website assessments.

I did a few assessments on the web and the points they awarded me ranged
from 115 to 125. using booklet 6 I had a definate 120 points.

Good luck.

Dear yogi and Mrs JFW,

Many thanks for your reassurance. I'm probably headed to Gold Coast.
Boyfriend lives there. We considered the De Facto route but thought
better of it (so here I am, crunching numbers). I've read the Booklet 6
cover to cover and it says only PCC needs to be original right? I'm
getting all sorts of conflicting reports here.

Where are you headed? And at what stage is your visa processing?

Cheers to fellow accountants (think the ones in Dilbert)!

Hey Jan,

Yes I think only PCC needs to be original but I think now you can scan
your PCC and send it to your case officer. Don't forget certify the
other documents.

I'm heading to Sydney hopefully and currently is waiting for my IELTS
result to come out and getting all the work references.

cheers,
yogi
